Disney Plus is making an anime. In October 2021, Disney announced a slew of new APAC (Asia Pacific) content, and anime fans of the world were intrigued to find that Disney was breaking into the anime licensing scene.
Disney+ has already proven it has what it takes to create a successful animated series with Marvel's What If...? and Star Wars: Visions. Now, it's trying its hand in the anime market.
So far, there are four new anime series that have been announced for Disney+:
Synduality: This is a sci-fi anime that is set in a world where humans and robots coexist. The series follows the story of two teenage girls who are trying to find their place in this world.
Flower of Evil: This is a suspenseful anime that follows the story of a man who is a serial killer but also a loving father and husband. The series explores the duality of his personality and the lengths he will go to to protect his family.
Summertime Rendering: This is a mystery anime that is set on a remote island. The series follows the story of a young man who returns to the island after his childhood friend's death. He soon discovers that there are dark secrets lurking on the island.
Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War: This is an action anime that is based on the popular manga series. The series follows the story of Ichigo Kurosaki, a high school student who becomes a Soul Reaper and battles evil spirits.
These are just a few of the anime series that are coming to Disney+. It will be interesting to see how Disney's anime offerings fare against the competition from other streaming platforms like Netflix and Crunchyroll.
